While filming people’s memories in Long Buckby recently, we discovered this amazing image. At first glance it looks like some early form of streamlining for this chap’s bike, but it’s actually a huge cardboard shoe complete with heel and stitched sole.
Alan Gautrey brought it in with a collection of his family photos relating to the boot and shoe trade. He doesn’t know much about it, but thinks it was taken in Long Buckby and might have something to do with a float or procession.
