Olympics Closing Ceremony & the Spice Girls
The Spice Girls have recently reunited to perform at the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony this Sunday 12th August, however will probably be remembered for wearing a range of platform boots and trainers. Through their music and individual looks the Spice Girls became role models for thousands of girls. Popular with teenage girls, newspapers and parents frequently expressed their disapproval about their unsuitability. Baby Spice Emma Bunton twisted her ankle in a pair and allegedly a teacher in Japan died after falling from a 5-inch platform sandal and fracturing her skull!

Music fans will be pleased to know that the line-up for the closing ceremony, which will celebrate 50 years of British music, also includes Muse, One Direction, Ed Sheeran, and George Michael. Other artists to be confirmed include Tinie Tempah, Jessie J, Annie Lennox, Fatboy Slim, Kaiser Chiefs, Madness and the Pet Shops Boys.
David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst are also set to appear as their Only Fools And Horses‘ characters Del Boy and Rodney and are rumoured to be re-enacting their classic ‘Batman and Robin’ sequence.
The ceremony is set to display a series of London’s key landmarks, with Big Ben, Tower Bridge, Battersea Power Station, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Royal Albert Hall and the London Eye all brought to life.
