We had a fantastic afternoon yesterday at the Barton Feast Reunion. Over a hundred people came (encouraged in part by the wafts of ‘Leeky Pie’) to catch up and share memories. It seemed just about everyone has a boot and shoe connection and we spent the afternoon chatting over how shoemaking has shaped this unique village.
Iona and others from the Museum had looked out photos from the shoe industry locally and people spent a happy couple of hours naming faces and recollecting stories. Several people came forward to share their stories on film which we’ll be shooting on Thursday.
Many conversations could be heard about STITCH which had lit up the night sky for the previous two nights. One boy came over to tell us he thought it was ‘spectacular’.
